ALUMNI GAME TOP-SHELF: The Swift Current Broncos hosted the Alumni and Celebrity Classic game on Feb. 8 as part of the four-day Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada festival in the city. Lanny McDonald was the captain of Team McDonald and Team Tucker was captained by Darcy Tucker. The game featured several NHL and national team players, as well as Broncos alumni and players from the Broncos 1988-89 Memorial Cup championship team. Team Tucker’s head coach was Cassie Campbell-Pascall and the honoured coach was Swift Current resident Larry Johnson, who was inducted last year into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame in the grassroots category. Bryan Trottier was Team McDonald’s head coach and the honoured coach was local resident Bill Lee, who initiated the project to create a Broncos memorial site near the scene of the 1986 bus crash.
