Swift Current Municipal Detachment busy attending with violent incidents

The following is a synopsis of calls for service for March 8-10: MARCH-08

4:06 p.m. - 911 misdial call from a business on the O block of 1st Avenue N.W. Officers determined there was no emergency taking place.

8:06 p.m. -while on patrol, officers stopped a grey Oldsmobile Delta for operating a without valid registrati­on. The driver of the vehicle was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

9:25 p.m. - report of a white SUV that went through a red light resulting in the caller to have to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision. The registered owner of the white SUV was spoken to by police. No charges were laid in relation to the incident.

10:26 p.m. - report of yelling and screaming coming from a residence on the 300 block of MacDonald Drive. Officers attended the location and could hear people in a home speaking very loudly. A verbal warning was given to the home owners about the noise. MARCH-09

3:01 a.m. - 911 call of a sudden death at a residence in Swift Current. An 83year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The death has been deemed non-suspicious.

3:40 a.m. -911 call of a domestic dispute on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue N.E. The caller advised that her boyfriend has been drinking and dragged her out of bed and threw something at her. The caller had locked herself in another room and the male broke the door so she is unable to get out of the room. Officers attended the location and arrested 37 year old Shaun Alton of Swift Current. Alton has been charged with one count of assault with weapon, one count of assault and one count of mischief under the Criminal Code. Alton was to appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on Monday March 11th, 2019.

10:07 a.m. - report of a male stopping traffic on the 300 block of 2nd Avenue S.E. Police then received a second call advising that the male had stepped out in front of a truck and then was given a ride by that vehicle.

10:49 a.m. - report of a fraudulent $10 bill that was received at a local financial institutio­n from a local business. Officers attended the location and determined the $10 bill to be legitimate.

11:39 a.m. -while on patrol, a warning ticket was issued to the driver of a white Dodge Caravan for speeding.

11:59 a.m. - report of an abandonded black Chevrolet Silverado on 6th Avenue N.E. It appears the vehicle has been sitting there a while and has bylaw tickets taped to one of the windows. Police were unable to get in touch with the registered owner of the vehicle. Police contacted the City of Swift Current's Bylaw Department to advise them of the vehicle.

5:45 p.m. - report of a grey Dodge Caravan passing the caller in a school zone. At the same time, a second call was received from the driver of the Dodge Caravan stating that when he passed a green Pontiac Grand a.m. the driver of the vehicle had given him the finger. Both parties were given verbal warnings by police about their driving.

6:46 p.m. - report of the caller's bank card being stolen by her ex-boyfriend while she was sleeping. The caller was advised to cancel her card. This matter is still under investigat­ion.

10:50 p.m. - report of a dog barking on the O block of 3rd Avenue N.E. Officers were unable to attend as they were tied up with other matters. No other calls were received in relation to the dog. MARCH-10

1:15 a.m. - report of a male causing issues at a commerical dwelling unit on Matador Drive. Officers attended the location and the male agreed to leave.

1:40 a.m. - report of the same male from the prior call causing issues with his mother while she was taking him home. The caller had stopped the vehicle and the male got out of the vehicle and took off running. While police were on the phone with the caller her son had returned home and went to bed. The caller was advised to contact police again if any further issues came up.

1:49 p.m. - report from a caller whose son was sledding with a neighbour today and she refused to return his snow tube to him. The caller was advised to approach the neighbour's parents and advise them she wants the snow tube back. Detachment staff received a second call advising that the parents had returned the snow tube.

5:34 p.m. - report of a stolen snow shovel from a residence on the 200 block of 4th Avenue N.W. The caller stated the female threw dog food on his floor and then stole his shovel as she was leaving the residence. This matter is still under investigat­ion.

6:58 p.m. -911 hangup call from the 200 block of 8th Avenue N.E. Officers attended the residence where a male had fallen out of his wheelchair. Officers helped the male back into his chair who then advised he wasn't feeling well. EMS was called to check on him.

8:41 p.m. - 911 call of a three-vehicle collision on Grey Street W. Officers attended the location and spoke to all involved parties. No one was injured as a result of the collision and no charges were laid.

10:01 p.m. - report of a female seen shopliftin­g from a business on the 1800 block of 22nd Avenue N.E. The female was not caught while in the store but it was caught on camera. This matter is still under investigat­ion.

10:55 p.m. - report of a possible impaired driver leaving a location on the 900 block of Central Avenue N. in a grey Honda Civic. The vehicle was swerving all over the road and kept hitting the curb.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and female driver in the parking lot of a business on the 700 block of South Service Road E. Officers arrested one adult female who will be charged with one count of impaired operation of motor vehicle, one count of impaired over 80-mgs of alcohol in blood, one count of uttering threats and one count of assault on police officer under the Criminal Code.
