SHAUNAVON AT CHINOOK:
Two presentations at a regular Chinook School Division board meeting on April 8 highlighted the Shaunavon High School (SHS) archery program and the Positive Lifestyles Day. The school has been participating in the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) for eight years. It offers an extra-curricular activity to students, but archery has also been incorporated into SHS physical education and wellness classes. Students can earn high school credits through the completion of a NASP special credit project. SHS is one of four schools in the Chinook School Division with an active NASP team. The other schools are Consul School, Gull Lake School, and Swift Current Comprehensive High School. The Positive Lifestyles Day takes place every second year at SHS and this year's event had a record attendance. There were various presentations and hands-on activities during the day to promote mental health, fitness, nutrition and overall wellness. The event also engaged community members, who shared their knowledge with students.
