Badminton winding down for SW Sask. high schools

Things have slowed down due to the Easter Break. Make sure to follow SWACSports on Facebook, twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on all the results of our upcoming Badminton and Track and Field competitio­ns. Feel free to ‘tag’SWACSPORTS when you post a picture or result.

If you love badminton, Saturday, April 27th you will have lots of options of where and what to watch. The SWAC Senior District badminton championsh­ip will be in Swift Current. The top four qualifiers from each of the section meets will playoff for the right to attend SHSAA Regionals in Regina on May 4. Games start at 10 a.m..

The SHSAA senior badminton provincial championsh­ip is in Swift Current on May 11. This is a great opportunit­y to come and see the top high school players in Saskatchew­an. It will be many years before this championsh­ip is in the South West again.

All junior section badminton playoffs take place on Saturday, April 27. Whitemud juniors in Eastend (teams attending are Eastend, Shaunavon, Frontier, Val Marie, Consul). Cypress Hills juniors will be in Leader (teams competing are Cabri, Hazlet, Success, Fox Valley, Burstall, Leader, Maple Creek). Rolling Hills A plays off in Herbert (teams competing are Gull Lake, Herbert, SCCHS, Waldeck, Ecole Centennial). Rolling Hills B will be in Ponteix (teams competing are Hodgeville, Irwin, Ponteix, Vanguard, Wymark). First games at all the tournament­s are at 10 a.m.

The SWAC junior badminton championsh­ip is Saturday, May 4 in Swift Current. The top four in each category, from Whitemud section, Cypress Hills section and top two from Rolling Hills A and Rolling Hills B sections, will advance to the district championsh­ip.
