Author Tasche returns to Write Out Loud

-

Hillarie Tasche is a writer and visual artist who grew up in Swift Current and is now based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She’s pursuing success as a writer of fiction and poetry.

Hillarie is a graduate of the Swift Current Comprehensive High School Class of 2003. Her interest in writing began with guidance from staff members in the English and Theatre departments at the Comp. Also, Hillarie has been shaped by the lifelong artistic and literary guidance of her father, English teacher turned playwright, Stew Tasche, and her mother, visual artist, Cyndi Tasche.

When Hillarie is not at her writing desk, she works as a criminal defense lawyer for youths aged 12 to 18, and is one of the pioneering members of Manitoba’s first Legal Aid office dedicated solely to the practice of Youth Law. Her work as a writer is deeply influenced by the innumerable lessons on the human condition that one encounters in the practice of law.

Hillarie’s first release was Let Us Make Art Forever, a collection of 12 poems released in 2016.

We are Animals: Three Dark Fables is a collection of short stories that, at first glance, tell of the tragic lives of three animals, but in truth, show us more about the universal struggles of our own species.

Write Out Loud commences May 15 at Swift Current’s Lyric Theatre. Admission is $8. Doors open at 6:30. Local musicians, The Billy Bock Quartet, (Stew Tasche, Dave Cyca, Ed Doyle, and Gord Nodge) will entertain at 7:00 and the featured author will follow.
