The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is pleased to announce, the Spring 2019 Launch of the Prairie Crocus Community Fund. An event hosted by the local advisory committee was held at the Canalta Hotel in Oyen on June 6, 2019. The event program included announcing the successful grant recipient from the region of Special Areas 2, 3 and MD of Acadia.

Numerous organizations from the region attended a grant writing workshop earlier this year and applied for funds through the Smart & Caring Community Grants program. After thorough analysis by the local Prairie Crocus Community Fund’s advisory committee, the committee made recommendations to the CFSEA’s board regarding grant dispersement.

The Prairie Crocus Community Fund’s advisory committee and Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta are pleased to announce approved funding in the amount of $12,400 for the Sibbald Community Club - Wheel Chair Ramp Development. A cheque was presented to members of the Sibbald Community Club during the Spring 2019 Launch Event.

“This is wonderful news for the local community,” said Kim Stief, Prairie Crocus Community Fund Coordinator. “We’re so thrilled that an organization from the Prairie Crocus region was successful in receiving a grant! The Sibbald Community Club did a great job with their application and it’s certainly a worthwhile project,” Kim continued, “Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without the donors. We’re deeply grateful for their support.”

That wasn’t the only announcement for the night! The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta is joining the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge, making up to $15,000 available to youthled projects that address diverse and urgent local priorities in each of the four distinct regions it serves. The main office in Medicine Hat, Brooks & District Community Fund, Prairie Crocus Community Fund and the Rural Community Fund of Forty Mile will each participate in the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge, which means a total of $60,000 will be made available in the southeastern corner of Alberta!

This Community Challenge goes far beyond the region CFSEA serves. Participating community foundations will make grants and learning opportunities available to youth-led initiatives in 150 communities from coast to coast to coast. As a whole, the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge aims to empower Canadian youth for the jobs and community realities of the future. The program will be introduced for the region of Prairie Crocus Community Fund in the upcoming months.
