LET THE GAMES BEGIN:
A torch relay at three locations in southwest Saskatchewan helped to create excitement in the run-up to the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games. The first leg of the torch relay took place through the streets of Swift Current, Aug. 3. The relay started with a ceremony at Market Square. Nine torchbearers took turns to carry a torch along a route that finished at Market Square. The second leg of the torch relay was held at Lac Pelletier Regional Park, Aug. 4. There were eight torchbearers and sections of the route were completed on the lake in a canoe/kayak. The final leg of the torch relay took place at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, Aug. 5. The eight torchbearers completed the route by walking, running, cycling or swimming. The torchbearers in Swift Current were: Hunter Berg, Jeff Chambers, Linda Ellerington, Mailyn Leyeza, Jackie Maffenbeier, Harv Martinez, Aleah Nickel, Nolan Paradis, and Ty Zinger. The torchbearers at Lac Pelletier Regional Park were: James Bobick, Tyrel Farnsworth, Darby-Jayne Fletcher, Ken Friesen, Sara Kuntz, Michelle McKenzie, Ella Toles, and Margo Zerr. The torchbearers at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park were: Lindsay Alliban, Alexandria Boss, Eve Boss, Elliot Duncalfe, Rosalie Flynn, Allen Graves, Scott Joseph, and B'yauling Toni.
