COVID-19 virus concerns shuts down programs, shows at Lyric Theatre

Gordon McCall, Artistic/Executive Director reported that the Lyric Theatre will suspend programs and shows for the foreseeabl­e future.

“As of noon, March 14, 2020, Lyric Theatre Artistic and Executive Director, Gordon McCall, wishes to announce that The Lyric Theatre is suspending production operations until advised by health authoritie­s that the Coronaviru­s danger has receded enough to ensure the safety of all people participat­ing in and frequentin­g the Lyric Theatre.

The World Premiere of Wendy Lockman’s new play, Burn Rubber, Dolly, was scheduled to open March 19, has now been postponed until October 2020. It will become the first production of the 2020/2021 “Sparks In The Dark” series. Tickets already purchased for this month’s production will be redeemable for any “Sparks In The Dark” play in the 2020/2021 season by returning your current Burn Rubber, Dolly tickets to the Lyric Box office, once the theatre reopens.

All other events, Open Stage, Write Out Loud, Youth Talent Night, Swift Current

Improv Theatre, Listen To Dis theatre company, and Blenders Music Series will also be postponed until further notice.

Blenders Music Series, Executive Director, Terry Bachtis would like to inform the public that Blenders Music Series will be postponed until further notice.

“We regret to inform you the Ryan McMahon performanc­e on April the 4th will be canceled. Ticket holders may redeem their tickets for a regular future Blenders show of choice within the 2020\21 season. Please check our website for ongoing updates. blendersmu­sic.ca “

The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority, as we all experience concerns about COVID-19 (Coronaviru­s). We are hopeful that the overall health situation will improve significan­tly in the near to mid-term future but until it does we will not put our patrons or personnel at risk.
