Frontier Days virtually a success

-

By Matthew Liebenberg

Frontier Days has been an annual summer experience in Swift Current since 1938 and while it cannot take place as usual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association continued the tradition by hosting Virtual Frontier Days Week from June 22-27. The virtual fair included various online activities and contests to engage the community, including a beard growing contest that was part of Frontier Days during the early years of the event. There were also some nonvirtual events during the week.

Taste of the Fair Week was an opportunity to support local restaurants that offered fair-style foods. The Spirit of the West parade tour was a selfguided driving tour to view decorated homes and businesses.

There were 19 entries for the parade tour, including a residential entry south of the city at Blumenort. Details about the winners of the various contests during Virtual Frontier Days Week are available on the Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association Facebook page (@KineticPark).
