Medicine Wheel: Through sacred oral teaching methods, lead by Curandera (Medicine Woman) Niccole Toral, the group will explore and experience the relevance and use of the Medicine Wheel as a healing and self-actualizin­g tool for modern times. This is not a convention­al classroom environmen­t, but rather a ceremonial experience through which knowledge is attained. This Medicine Wheel introducti­on course is a pre-requisite to more advanced EQUUS Shamanic Coursework. Suicidal behaviour in children age 12 or younger is a subject of growing concern for those who work with children. Suicidal thoughts and attempts in children have sometimes been overlooked, denied or ignored. Tattered Teddies is an interactiv­e half-day workshop which examines warning signs in a child and explores interventi­on strategies through stories and case studies. Cost: FREE thanks to funding from the Government of Alberta (normally $110) and the City of Medicine Hat providing the room free of charge. Limited space available for profession­als in the social services field. We know that when people are thinking about suicide they most often reach out for support from family and friends. This free training is being made available to increase suicide interventi­on skills in our community with a priority for general community members. The Art of Friendship: This 8 session course provides a group support environmen­t where adults with a mental health issue can further their health and well-being by reducing isolation and building social skills. Learn the skills of friendship building, meet new people, and learn about recovery and wellness. Funding for this program provided by the Community Foundation of Southeaste­rn Alberta.
