On Feb. 2, the CFGA hosted an update on the Retaining Canada’s Grasslands Using Carbon Offset Markets pilot project. A recording of the event is now available and can be viewed at https://youtu.be/iowB3q7X29w.

The Retaining Canada’s Grasslands Using Carbon Offset Markets pilot project was launched in March 2021 at the Saskatchewan PCAP Prairie’s Got the Goods Week. The Feb. 2 session provided an opportunity for us to showcase achievements, lessons and progress made towards the goal of enabling opportunities for grassland retention through carbon offsets.

The project is being led by the Canadian Forage and Grassland Association, with funding from Agriculture and AgriFood Canada through the AgriAssurance program, and industry funding from Shell Canada. The pilot project team includes a core group of Brightspot Climate, Climate Action Reserve, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Legacy Land Trust Society, Nature Conservancy of Canada, Radicle Balance, Regrow Ag, Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association, Shell Canada, Southern Alberta Land Trust Society, and Viresco Solutions Inc.
