AFAC hosting Livestock Care Conference next week

Alberta Farm Animal Care (AFAC) is hosting the annual Livestock Care Conference virtually from March 15 to March 17.

The theme is PREP for Livestock Emergencie­s (Plan, Respond, Evaluate, Progress) and will include emergency planning discussion­s, panels, experts, producer and industry leaders who will share their own experience­s and a table top workshop on crisis planning.

Registrati­on will also include two Lunch n' Learn sessions prior to the conference on March 8 and March 10, 2022.

The Livestock Care Conference (LCC) includes three days of interactiv­e learning sessions covering a range of topics such as

• Biosecurit­y

• Disease preparedne­ss

• Emergency response

• Trespass

The agenda will run through the different aspects of PREP, starting with a high-level look at livestock emergency planning, prep and management from keynote speaker, and president of Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue, Dr. Rebecca Gimenez Husted.

The next two days will follow the emergency planning process from preparatio­n, to managing an emergency as it is happening, and then evaluating and learnings post-event.
