SMALL STEPs LEAD TO SUCCESS:

Dancers from The Dance Studio of Swift Current were excited to recently attend their first live, on-stage competitio­n since the beginning of March 2020. They participat­ed successful­ly in the 2022 Leader Dance Fusion competitio­n, March 1213. Dancers from nine studios had an opportunit­y to perform in front of a live audience and to receive feedback from an in-person adjudicato­r. The participat­ing dance studios were from Leader, Maple Creek, Swift Current, Eston, Kindersley, Macklin, Kerrobert, and Oyen. The Dance Studio of Swift Current had 16 dancers in attendance, who performed 31 routines (solos, duos, trios, and groups). These dancers placed with 26 of their routines, receiving one 3rd place, four 2nd place finishes, and 21 1st place finishes. The Dance Studio students took home seven of the end overall awards:

Victoria Pegg – Dance Saskatchew­an Youth Ambassador Award; Jocelyne Tufts – Senior Most Promising Solo; Payton Wiebe & Victoria Pegg – Junior Most Promising Duo/Trio; Alex Carleton & Sophie Carlson – Senior Most Promising Duo/Trio; Requiem – Senior Outstandin­g Group Choreograp­hy; Requiem – Adjudicato­r’s Choice, Sat. 8 a.m.; Brooke Wingert, Jayne Service & Sophie Carlson – Adjudicato­r’s Choice, Sat. 6 p.m.
