A variety of activities and entertainment took place throughout the day at the Cultural Extravaganza in Swift Current, Sept. 24. The event was held at the Stockade in Kinetic Park during the New Frontier Fall Fair, which was organized by the City of Swift Current in partnership with the Swift Current Agricultural and Exhibition Association. The Cultural Extravaganza was also part of the 2022 Culture Days events in Swift Current between Sept. 23 and Oct. 16 to celebrate arts and culture.
The 3rd annual Superhero Walk Wheel Run took place from Sept. 16-26 to raise funds for SaskAbilities Swift Current. The event was a success and helped SaskAbilities Swift Current to raise and exceed its 2022 fundraising goal of $120,000. A total amount of $121,874.74 was raised through the Superhero Walk Wheel Run as well as the Ability Bowl fundraiser, which took place in April. Six teams participated in the Superhero Walk Wheel Run during the 10-day period to raise funds. The top fundraising team was
Southwest Homes Helping Hands, who raised $1,423.77. The top fundraising individual was Hayden Linsley, who raised $1,130. The top donor to Superhero Walk Wheel Run was Haunted Town of Lil-Sur-Mer, which made a donation of $8,000. Funds raised through the 2022 Ability Bowl and Superhero Walk Wheel Run will be used to support various recreational and youth orientated programming, including Summer Fun, Social Leisure Youth Program (SLYP Out), and attendance of Camp Easter Seal.
