For Immediate Release (October 27, 2022): The Alberta-NWT Command of The Royal Canadian Legion is honoured to have presented Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, AOE, B.Sc., LLD (hon), Lieutenant Governor of Alberta with the First Poppy at a ceremony in Edmonton today.

“The Pinning of the First Poppy is an important tradition for Veterans and The Royal Canadian Legion” said Tammy Wheeler, Executive Director of the Alberta-NWT Command. “It serves to commemorate the strong link that Canada’s Veterans have with the Sovereign and to remind all of us of the importance to never forget what has been sacrificed to ensure the freedoms that all Canadians enjoy today.”
