The Blues at the Bow club in Bow Island is starting their year off right, with music pouring out every door courtesy Juno Award Winner Steve Strongman.

“Everybody's been buzzing about it on our board and just excited to have an artist at this level of coming to blues at the bow; of course, every artist that we get is incredible,” said Michelle MacLean with Blues at the Bow. “But certainly everybody's been listening to him and sharing different things, saying ‘Oh, listen to this song.' And yeah, they're all pretty excited about it.”

Strongman will be bringing his all as a guitar-slinger, vocalist, and songwriter on January 21st, and despite the buzz in town, there's still some space left for those looking for something to do with their weekend.

“Usually our biggest ticket sales are in the last two weeks coming up to an event, so absolutely. Tickets are still available,” said MacLean.

Shows such as Strongman's are what keeps the sounds of blues music loud in this corner of the province explained MacLean. She added that it helped foster a sense of community in and around Bow Island.

“Having artists of this level, being able to come to Bow Island, it's certainly always such a special treat,” said MacLean. “When we get artists at this level, so many ... people going to the concert will say, ‘I feel like I've been transported, I feel like I'm down in Nashville. I feel like I'm somewhere else and they've been taken away for the night.' It's such a high level experience that people get when they come to visit the Bow. It's just phenomenal when we can get an artist like this and ensure that that strong guest experience continues.”

“It's really important for arts and culture to be alive and
