Corn Maze getting into the fall swing of things

The Lethbridge Corn Maze’s season is winding down in what has been another great year.

“This year’s been going very well,” said Theo Slingerland, Corn Maze owner.

“Like we had a good summer turn out and the fall has been good so far and a gorgeous day today. So you can see the crowds around us here. We’re hoping for another three weeks after this.”

Slingerland said long weekends are always busier if the weather is good and you can’t get much better weather than this.

“So, it’s a really good turnout,” said Slingerland.

The Corn Maze has a different design every year and this year went with a train going over the High Level Bridge and have the word Lethbridge on the bottom.

Slingerland said the designing part is always the hardest because you have to figure out where people go.

“I mean you have to make it difficult enough that it’s fun, but not too hard that it is no fun,” said Slingerland.

There are two different mazes in the design including one without any hints and get help from guides on the tower and a trivia maze about a train or a bridge.

“People are coming out and telling me they have so much fun here and they tell me it’s every year getting better,” said Slingerland.

Eleanor and Jake Worthington were making their first trip to the Corn Maze with their son Connor from Nanton.

“It’s really nice that you can actually get to pet the animals here,” said Jake.

“Because some of the other places we’ve been to, you’re not allowed to pet them.”

Connor’s favourite animal were the goats.

“The pumpkins just scattered around everywhere, it’s really picturesque and with the full leaves and it’s just really nice,” said Eleanor.

Shannon Francis said it’s a great area for the community to come together.

“It’s a great place,” she said.

“We often see friends here and it’s a great place just to come together and there’s nothing else around the area that’s like it, which is fantastic. It’s just a really warm and inviting place.” Francis’ kids love to feed the animals.

The Corn Maze held its annual Thanksgiving fundraiser on Monday where all the admission proceeds will go to the Lethbridge Pregnancy Care Centre.
