More firefighters are trained, and more rural fire departments are equipped with grain rescue gear thanks to G3’s sponsorship of the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association’s (CASA) BeGrainSafe program.

In 2023 G3’s funding helped train 169 fire fighters to rescue a person trapped in grain, and purchased the specialized equipment needed for grain entrapment situations for six fire departments in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Quebec.

G3 is a ‘Safety Champion’ and top sponsor of the BeGrainSafe program. Since 2020, G3’s support for BeGrainSafe has funded training for more than 500 firefighters and donated rescue gear to 23 fire departments across Canada.

“G3 encourages a culture of safety at all our workplaces,” says G3 CEO Don Chapman. “We’re proud to enhance safety through the BeGrainSafe program in communities we serve from Wheatland County, Alberta to Warwick, Quebec.”

“Coronation Fire and Rescue are very grateful to G3 for their generous sponsorship of the CASA Grain Bin Rescue course and grain bin rescue equipment,” says Chris Brearly, chief of the fire department in Coronation, Alberta which received training this year. “This greatly benefits the local community.”

G3 was also the 2023 Presenting Sponsor of BeGrainSafe Week, an online campaign to raise awareness of the program, and educate more farm families and workers about the potentially deadly risk of grain entrapment.

The BeGrainSafe Program is an initiative of the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association. BeGrainSafe Week raises awareness about grain, grain handling, and grain storage. Find resources, social media posts, and more educational information at casa-acsa.ca/begrainsafe.
