Police charge three people in connection with dial-a-dope drug trafficking operation
Lethbridge Police have charged two males and one female with drug trafficking offences in connection with a local dial-a-dope operation.
Earlier this month, members of the Crime Suppression Team and Property Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity. During the investigation police observed multiple occurrences where the subjects would drive to various locations and meet third parties to conduct transactions consistent with drug trafficking.
On November 23 a search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed in relation to two southside residences and three vehicles. Police arrested a 41-yearold male and 34-year-old female – each operating separate vehicles – during two targeted traffic stops. A 35-year-old female was arrested inside a southside home and a 37-year-old male was arrested from a second southside residence.
During a search of the homes and vehicles, police seized two rifles and ammunition, a total of approximately 219 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of methamphetamine, 138 tablets of prescription narcotics, 28 grams of marijuana, 855 grams of buffing agent and more than $40,000 cash proceeds of crime. The combined street value of the drugs and buff is approximately $23,600.
Andrew Jonathan Bacon 41, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Melissa Bacon, 35, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
Jeffrey Neumann, 37, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, careless use/storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
All three were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court January 19, 2024 to answer to the charges.
The 34-year-old female was released without charges.
