Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame accepting nominations until Feb.

- By Justin Seward

The Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame’s nomination period is now open until the end of January for its inductee class of 2024.

LSHOF is a non-profit organization who remembers, recognizes and celebrates achievements of local athletes and builders.

“What we’re looking for in Lethbridge Sports Hall of Fame nominations are really those who have gone above and beyond to benefit sport here in Lethbridge and the Lethbridge area,” said Paul Kingsmith, LSHOF chair.

“When we’re talking athletes, that means those who have competed at the provincial level and higher, who have built their roots in Lethbridge, but from there have gone on to represent the city at the highest levels of sport and do something really special.”

The same criteria can be considered for local teams.

Kingsmith does not think there is has been a recent challenge with finding nominees.

“Something that astounds me is that almost every year I think, wow at some point we have to run out of amazing nominees, and then the next class comes out and it’s like wow this class is another insanely deserving class,” said Kingsmith.

“I guess our back log of nominations is a little lower than it probably has been at some points, which means that there’s more opportunity. But I do find that clubs and organizations and those involved in sport in the city are never hesitant to put something forward.”

Nominations can be made in the Athlete, Team, Builders and Special Award categories.

Nomination deadline is Jan.31 and can be made at https://www.lethbridgesportshalloffame.ca. The 2024 induction ceremony will be in early May.
