Brooks RCMP busy late last month as they dealt with many complaints

Theft of Motor Vehicle

On March 23 at 6:41 a.m., Brooks RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle being stolen from a residence in Brooks. The owner had his keys in the ignition and left the door unlocked to warm up his vehicle while inside getting his lunch for work. When he returned outside to leave, the vehicle was gone. Vehicle described as a green 2000 Honda Civic, Alberta licence plate: CMH2552.

Single Vehicle Collision

On March 24 a semi jack knifed and went into the ditch at Hwy 1 and Range Road 105. It was the second vehicle that hit a patch of black ice and went off the road. The driver and passenger were uninjured.

Assault-March 24

On March 24, Brooks RCMP received a report from Gus’s restaurant of a bar fight that resulted in injuries to one patron. Members attended.

Stolen Vehicle Alert-March 23

A Green 2000 Honda Civic with Alberta licence plate CMH 2552 was stolen from a residence near 2nd Ave E and 7th St E between 6:30-6:45 am on March 23rd. If you have any informatio­n, please contact the Brooks RCMP by calling the Complaint Line at 403-362-5535 or Crimestopp­ers at 1-800-222-8477. For your safety, please do not approach anyone you suspect of having the stolen vehicle. Instead, make a note of the location, time, driver descriptio­n, and report it.

Semi roll-over-March 19

On March 19, 2024 at 11:58 hours, Brooks RCMP responded to a 5 ton semi truck carrying a load of frozen pizzas that had rolled over on HWY 1 EB near TWP Rd 211A. The driver was transporte­d to hospital by EMS and treated for his injuries. The truck blocked both HWY 1 EB lanes and the road was closed for a period of time. Bassano fire assisted with opening up the shoulder lane while waiting for Brooks towing to arrive and tow the vehicle.

Two Motor-Vehicle Collision-March 19

On March 19, 2024 at 19:55 hours the Brooks RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at 2 Street W and 2 Avenue. Members attended and learned that a Cadillac had ran through the red light at the 2 Street intersecti­on hitting a Nissan on the driver side. The Nissan then collided with a light pole that fell down on the vehicle. Tickets were issued for the driver of the Cadillac. The driver of the Nissan was transporte­d to hospital to be treated for heir injuries.

Problem in parking-lot

The RCMP have received multiple reports of a male and female, loitering in local parking lots (Walmart and No Frills) asking people for money. The couple is connected to multiple thefts in our community and they have been driving a grey Ford Edge with a Quebec licence plate: P70YNN. If you see this vehicle, please report it right away to the Brooks RCMP and do not attempt to stop the vehicle yourself. If you or your store have been a victim of theft- please report to police in a timely fashion.
