Sept. 22 — Bar U His­toric Site

A sec­ond Thresh­ing Day and Ham­burger Soup Fundraiser takes place on Satur­day, Septem­ber 22. The Bar U com­mu­nity has been cel­e­brat­ing “Rhythm of the Land” from spring seed plant­ing through fall har­vest. The stooks are dry­ing for the fi­nal stage – the Thresh­ing! Thresh­ing will take place on Sept. 22. Join the har­vest crew load­ing the bun­dles onto horse drawn wag­ons for their jour­ney to the vin­tage thresh­ing ma­chine. Dur­ing the thresh­ing, join in­ter­preters and a special guest pre­sen­ta­tion by the Cana­dian Food In­spec­tion Agency (CFIA) rep­re­sen­ta­tive Kath­leen MacDon­ald on “Farm to Ta­ble”, fea­tur­ing food safety in Canada. On Septem­ber 22, join the Friends of the Bar U His­toric Ranch As­so­ci­a­tion for a Ham­burger Soup Fundraiser be­ing served at the har­vest with all pro­ceeds go­ing to the Friends of the Bar U. The Friends of the Helen Schuler Na­ture Cen­tre So­ci­ety is proud to present the of­fi­cial DVD re­lease of the lo­cal doc­u­men­tary Wildlife of the Old­man River Val­ley filmed by Rick An­drews. The screen­ing and DVD re­lease will take place on Satur­day, Septem­ber 29, 2018, at 3:00p.m. at the Leth­bridge Pub­lic Li­brary (main branch) in sup­port of the Helen Schuler Na­ture Cen­tre’s Out­door Learn­ing Class­room and Am­phithe­atre pro­ject. South Coun­try Jam­boree So­ci­ety will hold a jam ses­sion Sept. 30 at 1p.m. at Leth­bridge Le­gion. Meals may be or­dered from Great Plate Cater­ing af­ter 3 p.m.

Oc­to­ber 4 — Leth­bridge

Hosted by Ro­tary Club of Leth­bridge Sun­rise on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 4, from 7– 8:15 a.m. at the Nord-Bridge Se­nior Cen­tre, (1904 – 13 Av­enue North) in Leth­bridge the Los Ami­gos Send-Off Break­fast will take place. Ve­hi­cles de­part at 8:15 a.m. Break­fast will be served at 7:00 am Pay at the door - $15 – Cash or cheque. The Los Ami­gos con­voy of six ve­hi­cles will de­part for Mex­ico at 8:15 a.m. on Oc­to­ber 4. Join them for the Send-Off Break­fast and bid farewell to our 2018 pro­ject team!

Leth­bridge Volk­swa­gen Ok­to­ber­fest YQL is back for it's 5th year of great Ger­man Beer, great Ger­man Food and amaz­ing en­ter­tain­ment. We have ex­panded to Ex­hi­bi­tion Park this year to ex­pand and grow the fes­ti­val and are ex­cited to turn the main pav­il­ion into a Bier Haus.
