CP Holiday Train comes back to Gleichen
The CP Holiday Train will be stopping in Gleichen for the first time in recent memory. Gleichen is a community located 40 km southeast of Strathmore, which has a rich history in the region.
“As I live two miles north of the tracks, I've seen it go past but never stop, and I’m very excited to have a chance to be part of the the event that could happen!” resident Jason Wilson said.
Alan Parkin, the Chief Administrative Officer for Wheatland County, says that CP Rail has the holiday train arriving in Gleichen at 9:55 p.m. and leaving at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7.
Performing will be Terri Clark, Sierra Noble and Kelly Prescott.
Gleichen, Parkin says, was a natural stop along the line and that CP Rail was able to fit the stop into their schedule, but that Gleichen is the only stop in the area that the Holiday Train will make.
Gleichen was originally a main stop for trains back a number of years ago, but that has since changed.
“We are very excited to have the Holiday Train stop in one of our communities,” Parkin said. “Donations are made at the time of the stop when the live performances take place but may be made at other times as well.
