Im­paired driv­ing charges laid af­ter June 25 col­li­sion fa­tal­ity

Charges have been laid against a 62 year old Leth­bridge man who RCMP be­lieve was op­er­at­ing a ve­hi­cle in­volved in a fa­tal col­li­sion on High­way 3 near Coal­hurst on June 25, 2018.

This col­li­sion re­sulted in the death of a 42 year old man from the Pi­ikani Na­tion.

Dou­glas Bag­nall has been charged with im­paired oper­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle caus­ing death and op­er­at­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle with a blood al­co­hol con­cen­tra­tion ex­ceed­ing 80 mg% caus­ing death.

Bag­nall was ar­rested on Nov. 18, held in cus­tody for a bail hear­ing.

He has now been granted re­lease based on con­di­tions.

Bag­nall’s next court date was to be on Nov. 27 at the Leth­bridge Provin­cial Court.

As this mat­ter is now be­fore the courts no fur­ther in­for­ma­tion will be pro­vided.
