Corporations seeking charitable donations is disingenuous
EDITOR:
There is something disingenuous about corporations asking people at the till if they would like to donate to this charity or that one – especially this time of year.
Do you get a tiny wave of guilt in saying “no” when you are asked? Of course people would like to if they had the spare change or are willing to slap it on the credit card and pay later. Perhaps you won’t feel so bad if you knew that the corporation putting you on the spot at the till is getting a tax cut with your money. How nice of them to collect all that money for us and then attach their name to a claim for charitable donation at Revenue Canada.
Do so for the convenience if you like. Just know you are also donating to the bottom line of the corporation that is collecting your money.
