Lethbridge County and Town of Coalhurst sign ICF and recreation agreements
Another regional Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) has been signed in Lethbridge County, displaying the willingness of surrounding municipalities to work together. The County and the Town of Coalhurst have officially signed the ICF agreement which will serve as a guide for strategic planning, delivery, and funding of services between the two municipalities. The Recreation Agreement is included as one of the components of the ICF and will see the County provide Coalhurst with annual and predictable funding for recreation services.
“Coalhurst is excited to engage in cooperative initiatives with Lethbridge County and the signing of these agreements is a step in the right direction,” says Mayor Dennis Cassie. “We know this collaborative effort will assist Coalhurst to build a stronger community, support economic development and promote the health and growth of our residents.”
“We look forward to cooperatively working together with Lethbridge County now and for the future growth of our municipalities,” says Chief Administrative Officer Kim Hauta.
“Signing this agreement with the Town of Coalhurst is a very positive step forward for Lethbridge County,” says Reeve Lorne Hickey. “Regional collaboration and maintaining our strong relationships with our neighbours has been a focus of Council. Having an agreement for service delivery and funding allows us to better plan for the future.”

Now that this agreement has been completed, we can move on to more regional partnerships that will be a benefit to all of our ratepayers.”
ICF and Recreation Agreements are required of all municipalities in Alberta who share a common border. Lethbridge County has also completed ICF agreements with the City of Lethbridge, Town of Coaldale, Town of Nobleford, Village of Barons, MD of Willow Creek, Vulcan County, MD of Taber, County of Warner, and Cardston County.
