On Monday, Dec.13, residents of Division 5 will have the opportunit­y to cast a vote for their Council representa­tive.

As Lethbridge County did not receive any candidate nomination­s for Division 5 in the Municipal Election held on October 18, the Province has directed the County to hold a by-election to fill the vacant spot.

The Nomination Period is now open and those interested in running have until Monday, Nov. 15 at noon to submit their nomination papers. Papers can be picked up at the Lethbridge administra­tion office (#100, 905 4 Avenue S.) or downloaded at https://lethcounty.ca/p/election-2021. Papers must be filed at the Lethbridge office during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Additional informatio­n on running for Council is available on the County’s website or by calling 403-3285525.

An Advance Vote will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4. Locations and times for the Advance Vote and Election Day will be announced at a later date on the County’s website.

Division 5 is in the northwest portion of the County, including Monarch and the area surroundin­g the Town of Nobleford and Village of Barons. A map is available online at https://lethcounty.ca/p/election-2021

Lethbridge County

Lethbridge County were asked to contribute their opinions about the upcoming budget. According to the County, this is the timeline for the budget:

• Nov. 2: this is an upcoming stage for Budget 2022; Operating and Capital Budget review by Senior Leadership;

• Nov. 30: Operating and Capital Budgets presented to Council;

• Dec. 1: Operating and Capital Budgets presented to Council;

• Dec. 7: Council Budget review;

• Dec.16, 2021 (tentative): Council approval of Operating and Capital Budgets.

Council, at their Organizati­onal Meeting of October 26, changed the regular meetings of Council to the following: Council meetings will now be the second and forth Tuesdays starting at 5 p.m. Committee meetings of Council will now be the third Tuesday of the month starting at 5:00 pm
