Three Hurricanes players make NHL Central Scouting list

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have placed three players on the NHL Central Scouting preliminar­y players to watch list.

Making the list with a ‘C’ ranking are forwards and 2021 Import picks Yegor Kladiev and Peter Repcik and defenceman Logan McCutcheon.

An ‘A’ ranking from the Western Hockey League generally means that the scouting service has the player pegged as a firstround draft pick. There are 45 players named to the list.

‘B’-ranked prospects are second and third-round candidates while ‘C’-ranked prospects are fourth to seventh-round candidates.

In five games with the Hurricanes this season, Kladiev is tied for the lead in goals with three and has four points in five games.

The Hurricanes picked the five-foot-11, 180-pound left winger from Minsk, Belarus in the first round and 11th overall in this year’s Import draft.

Last season, Klavdiev appeared in 38 games while three different Belarussia­n clubs totaling 16 points (nine goals and seven assists). He had three points in five games for Belarus at the World Under-18 Hockey Championsh­ips in the spring.

Repcik has one assist in five games with the Canes this season. The 17-year-old from Kosice, Slovakia was chosen in the second round and 115th overall in the Import draft.

Repcik had nine goals and 26 points in 20 games with Team Slovakia U18 club last season.

He also finished tied for seventh in tournament scoring at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup with four goals and eight points in five games for Slovakia.

McCutcheon, in his second season with the Canes, has one goal two points in five games this season.

In the shortened season in the spring, McCutcheon had 11 points (one goal and 10 assists) in 23 games.

The five-foot-nine, 150-pound blue-liner was taken in the third round and 60th overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Winnipeg Ice has two players ranked as ‘A’ prospects, Matthew Savoie and Conor Geekie. Winnipeg selected them first and second overall at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

The third player on the list is Moose Jaw Warriors Denton Mateychuk, the 11th overall pick in the same year.
