Barley Council of Canada announces changes to its 2022 executive committee
The Barley Council of Canada (BCC) is recognized as the national voice for the barley value chain and facilitates a range of activities pertaining to research and market development. BCC remains committed to being the host of the National Barley Cluster. It also works with partner organizations and addresses strategic initiatives in government relations, trade policy, and market access.
Barley Council of Canada (BCC) held its annual general meeting on January 18, 2022 and is pleased to announce the board and new executive. Although all board members are returning for another year, the executive has changed slightly.
• Zenneth Faye of Foam Lake, Saskatchewan, and representing SaskBarley, will continue to serve as board chair.
• Neil Campbell of Kensington, PEI and representing Atlantic Grains Council, will continue to serve as vice-chair.
• Rauri Qually of Dacotah, Manitoba and representing Manitoba Crop Alliance, is new to the executive and will serve as treasurer.
• Gina Feist of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and representing Brewing & Malting Barley Research Institute, is also new to the executive and will serve as secretary.
They join the balance of the board including:
• Jeff Harrison of Belleville, Ontario, representing Grain Farmers of Ontario.
• Luke Chapman of Stittsville, Ontario, representing Beer Canada.
• William Van Tassel of Herbertville, Québec representing Producteurs de grains du Québec.
• Doug Mcbain of Cremona Alberta, representing Western Barley Growers Association.
“The barley industry is growing in interest. We are not only the world leader in barley production, but Canadian barley also serves a diverse market from (human) food and beverage to animal feed. BCC is also a strong supporter of research and is looking forward to what 2022 and beyond will bring to the industry,” stated BCC Chair Zenneth Faye.
In August, 2021, BCC relocated from Calgary to Saskatoon and the office is being managed by AgriBiz Communications Corp,, with Adele Buettner serving as the interim Executive Director.
