The Monarch playground will be receiving upgrades this year, and the design is inspired by ideas from the hamlets’ residents.

-

In January of this year. Lethbridge County asked Monarch residents to view a proposed design and provide their feedback on what equipment they wanted to see most. After gathering input, the design was revised to reflect the wishes of the community.

The finalized design has elements for children of all ages and includes: • Swing sets with a small seat for younger children

• A variety of climbing equipment

• Several slides

• Overhead bars

• Expressions swing

• Merry-go-round

• Digger and spring riders

• Activity panels

Additional amenities to the playground include picnic tables, benches, a bike rack, and garbage cans. Along with the new equipment, the area will also see upgrades to the tennis and basketball courts with:

• Sealcoating on tennis court

• New basketball hoops and nets

• Painting keys on basketball court This project is part of Lethbridge County’s 2021 capital budget. It was moved to 2022 to allow the opportunity to gather resident feedback.

Construction is scheduled for May or June depending on material supply and weather. Residents can visit https://whatshappening.lethcounty.ca/ monarch-playground for updates on the project timeline.
