McCain Foods and Western Tractor announced June 2 they are teaming up to host another Free FryDay donation drive and fundraising event to support humanitarian relief efforts for Ukrainian refugees.

On Friday, June 17, McCain Foods will be giving away two bags of free products to everyone who visits a Western Tractor dealership in Medicine Hat, Burdett, Taber and Lethbridge. All Free FryDay donations will go towards supportive efforts in Alberta coordinated through the Ukrainian Canadian Congress #AlbertaStandsWithUkraine campaign and Hungry

For Life International’s Ukraine Emergency Relief.

“Many of our customers and members of our communities have personal ties to Ukraine. Even those without personal ties, watching the destruction of lives and lands due to the war is

deeply troubling,” said Steven Dyck, President, Western Tractor. “Everyone is watching with heavy hearts what is happening and even though we are thousands of miles away, all of us at

Western Tractor felt a responsibility to act. We are so grateful for the continued support of McCain Foods, their operators, and their staff in helping us to host another Free FryDay event.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 and collect enough supplies to fill a grain truck. Helping the community in a time of need is what we do. In this case, we’re helping local residents and the international community with funds and donated items to bring a sense of stability to so many,” said Dyck

“McCain is committed to the longterm development and support of the families and communities in which we operate,” said Sol Giantomasi, Plant Manager – McCain Coaldale Plant.

We are proud to collaborate with Western Tractor to support Free FryDay in an effort to rally community support for those in need.

To support Free FryDay, guests can stop by their local Western Tractor dealership during the designated distribution time for their community. Each vehicle will receive two 3.5 lbs bags of frozen product through curbside contactless pickup. Both monetary donations and supplies will be accepted, including non-perishable food items, first aid kits, toothbrushes and toothpaste, bed sheets, towels, blankets, socks, diapers, and snack items like juice boxes and energy bars for children.

More information, including a complete list of acceptable items, can be found on the event site.
