Lethbridge businesses continue commitment to a safer night out

Celebratin­g three years of Best Bar None Lethbridge, 15 local hospitalit­y establishm­ents gained accreditat­ion for their continued efforts to demonstrat­e responsibl­e liquor service and patron safety.

“With COVID-19 impacting many businesses the past two years, Alberta Gaming Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) is extremely proud of the ongoing collaborat­ion between industry and the Lethbridge community to promote responsibl­e liquor consumptio­n. Congratula­tions to this year’s accredited businesses and award winners for their efforts to raise the bar on customer service and safety,” explained Kandice Machado, Chief Executive Officer, AGLC.

From this group, three businesses won awards in the following categories:

Pub: Pops Taphouse and Grill - North

Restaurant and Bar: Water Tower Grill & Pub

Casino: Pure Casino Lethbridge

The general public were encouraged to have their say and vote for their favourite accredited business between June 7 – 17, as part of the Best Bar None People’s Choice Awards:

Best Food: Honkers Pub and Eatery

Best Business: Honkers Pub and Eatery

Best Staff: Honkers Pub and Eatery

Best Community Involvemen­t: Honkers Pub and Eatery

Already operating in more than 160 accredited

establishm­ents in Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Banff, the BBN program aims to reduce alcohol-related harms by:

• encouragin­g businesses to adopt best practices related to customer safety and responsibl­e service of alcohol;

• giving businesses the tools to be better prepared for any violent incidents; and

• building positive relationsh­ips between industry, enforcemen­t agencies, government­s and community. Best Bar None Lethbridge is a partnershi­p between AGLC, the City of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Police Service and the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, with support from the Alberta Safer Bars Council.
