Lethbridge Police have charged a 46-year-old man with careless driving in connection with a collision in October which claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

Police responded to reports of a collision between a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive South and Scenic Drive just after 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2022. The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old Lethbridge man, was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators with the Traffic Response Unit determined the motorcyclist was southbound on Mayor Magrath Drive and proceeded through the intersection on a green light, while a northbound vehicle turned west onto Scenic Drive and across the motorcyclist’s path on a red light.

Rowell Lapuz Legaspi, of Lethbridge, is charged with careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act, which includes an automatic court appearance. He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 17, 2022.
