Douglas, from Milk River, joined the army in Calgary at Currie Barracks and served under Major Graham until he was transferre­d to Lethbridge to the internment camp. He was a first-class butcher and cut meat for the 10,000 German prisoners. Due to illness at home he retired from service in 1945.
