Lester Spackman
Enlisted in the R.C.A.F. June 4, 1942. Trained at various places in Canada in air crew then transferred to ground crew. On June 6, 1944, landed on the beach of Normandy, France. He was a Bomb Armourer (fusing bombs). Saw action in France, Belgium, and Holland. He was sent back to Kent, England, where he was with No. 6 Bomber Group, Armament Section, loading the big bombs on Lancaster bombers. He came back to Canada after the European war was over and was preparing to go to the Far East when Japan surrendered. He was discharged September, 1945.
