Perini, from Taber, flew as a tail gunner in Halifax and Lancaster bombers. On Nov. 2, 1944, on his 13th tour, Perini’s plane was shot down over HagenVorha­lle, Germany and he was taken as a PoW for approximat­ely seven months. During his captivity, Elido was interrogat­ed by Hermann Goering, to whom he gave only his name, rank and serial number.
