Serving with 13 Canadian Mounted Rifles in England, France and Belgium, Sergeant George Cox of Pincher Creek survived the battle of the Somme. His diary entry for June 4, 1916 read “Our battalion wiped out.” He signed up in February 1915 and was discharged in June 1919.
