of Cardston, Alberta, Served in the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Canadian Infantry Corps from 1943 - 1945 On October 21,1944 at Borgo di Ronta, Italy during a rainy night attack, his Company came under heavy Fire while crossing the soft mud of the flood swollen River Savio. When the Sergeant commanding the Platoon fell, Private Berry took over the platoon and with complete disregard for his own safety led for 400 yards beyond the river. He then led the charge which captured an enemy helcl house in the Casa Gentile group, wiping out its entire garriso During this action he was wounded. For these actions he received a Distinguis­hed Conduct Medal
