Celebratin­g the new partnershi­p between Special Olympics Alberta and YMCA of Lethbridge

Special Olympics Alberta and YMCA of Lethbridge have launched a new partnershi­p and are celebratin­g by hosting Try It, a sports event at the Cor Van Raay YMCA facility on November 19.

This is a free event open to individual­s of all ages with an intellectu­al disability and their supports/ family members.

“This is a free event for individual­s with an intellectu­al disability in the city of Lethbridge to try out new activities, find out what programs will be available this season, and check out the amazing Cor Van Raay YMCA facility,” said Courtney Roy, Director of Sports Developmen­t with Special Olympics Alberta.

Attendees will be able to try out sports like gymnastics, power lifting, cornhole, pickleball, and basketball, as well as Active Start, Special Olympics Alberta’s program for young athletes.

“The YMCA is extremely pleased to be a part of this new partnershi­p and we look forward to delivering and growing programs with Special Olympics Alberta for years to come, “says Scott Boyd, Senior Operation Manager for the YMCA of Lethbridge.
