Roughriders announce grants to 10 communities for kids’ projects
Ten communities in Saskatchewan are to receive financial grants from the CFL’S Saskatchewan Roughriders through the team’s Centennial Legacy Fund.
According to a media release issued by the team on Friday, Big River, Canora, Dalmeny, Estevan, Milestone, Meadow Lake, Moosomin, North Battleford, Regina and Warman will receive funds to help pay for amateur football capital projects.
The $650,000 legacy fund, which was established in 2011, consists of profits generated from the Roughriders’ centennial celebrations in 2010.
“Investments such as this ensure the centennial celebrations legacy lasts well beyond 2010,” Roughriders chairman Roger Brandvold said in the release.
“This fund is making an incredible impact on communities across the province and allows more kids to enjoy the benefits of participating in minor sports.”
