A sweet birthday for Swift

- DOUG CAMILLI

When Taylor Swift turned 23, on Thursday, her latest boyfriend Harry Styles, of the British Boy Band One Direction, gave her 23 cupcakes.

No, really. I read about it in the Warrington Guardian, the paper in his British hometown, which the two are visiting.

Harry had somebody call The Custom Cupcake Company there, and place a special order, including some cupcakes filled with candy floss and some with mint liqueur. Maybe he thinks she needs fattening up.

(I’m starting to wonder about Swift. She’s broken up with about 72 guys already, and every time it’s been his fault, to judge by her lyrics. Her new single, just out on video, is called I Knew You Were Trouble. OK, with Conor Kennedy it was his family’s fault, but it’s never hers. I wonder how long this relationship, which was made in PR heaven, will last.) Spotlight couple: Renee Zellweger’s latest is Doyle Bramhall II, a guitar player who dated Sheryl Crow for a while last year. You’ll recall the The Zellster was with Bradley Cooper until 18 months ago.

Doyle and Renee went to university together, One Who Knows told Us Weekly. They’re both 43. Now it can be told: Today mag asked Jon Stewart who was the worst guest ever on The Daily Show. He named Hugh Grant, for a 2009 gig. Grant was OK on camera but annoying backstage beforehand, when he was “giving everyone (rude word) the whole time … he’s a big pain in the (other rude word)”. Quote of the day: Claire Danes, nominated for a Golden Globe for Homeland and expecting her first child (with actor husband Hugh Dancy) says she’s been working so hard that she was happy to have a date night recently.

“A couple of weeks ago I went on a date night with Hugh, who I hadn’t seen in a long time because of work. We went out to a restaurant in New York and I had a big bowl of pasta. I was a little overwhelmed with joy to be with my guy, eating lots of carbs. It was heaven.” Jagger’s laws: On David Letterman’s show the other night, Mick Jagger presented the Top 10 list, of “things I have learned after 50 years in rock ’n’ roll. A few were funny.

10. Nobody wants to hear anything from your new album.

8. Before shouting, “Hi, Seattle,” make sure you’re in Seattle.

3. Be considerate of other hotel guests — trash your room by 10 p.m.

2. You can’t always get what you want — like a good joke on the Top 10 list.

1. You start out playing rock ’n’ roll so you can have sex and do drugs, but you end up doing drugs so you can still play rock ’n’ roll and have sex.
