The Ultimate Women’s Show ― as you’d expect ― is targeted at women.

But it’s also proving to be a hit with guys.

Every year, more and more men attend, pointed out event organizer Greg Gusway.

“The men like to go where the women are. Because it’s before Valentine’s Day, a lot of men come for ideas,” he explained. “Lots of business comes out of it.

“Besides, it’s a fun way to spend a day or night out,” Gusway added.

The Ultimate Women’s Show runs today from 3 to 10 p.m., from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, at the Conexus Arts Centre. Tickets are $10, available at the door.

The event features 120 booths ― 100 for shopping, and 20 for sampling food and beverages.

“We have 41 new booths from last year,” Gusway said.

“There’s something for everybody,” he insisted. “From BMWs to home stuff, which would be closet organizers, kitchens …”

Beauty and fashion trends are being showcased ― everything from clothing, jewelry and makeup to the latest in hair and nails.

Spa services are also being featured.

“You can get a hydra facial there. You can get a body wrap for weight loss,” Gusway said.

New at this year’s show are boots that can be transformed by changing the accompanying leggings.

“You buy the boot, which would be just over your ankle. And then you’ve got the legging that you buy with it. The legging can come all the way down to look like a pirate boot, or it can be all the way up to look like a dress boot, or you can fold it two inches down on the top to show the leather. There are 30 different kinds that you can buy … So it’s one pair of boots, and you’ve got the leggings, so it looks like you’ve got 20 pairs of boots,” Gusway explained.

Back by popular demand is a fruit beer from Alberta. It was such a hit last year that the exhibitor ran out of samples, Gusway said, adding that there was a spike in sales following the show.

Food samples at the event are free. Drink tokens cost $1.

“It’s just one token per drink. And we charge a buck a token. So that’s a pretty cheap drink,” he said.

The event’s charity of choice, once again, is Brighter Futures for Children, supporting SCEP Centre and Regina Early Learning Centre.

Between $7,500 and $10,000 is raised annually for the charity at The Ultimate Women’s Show, Gusway said.

Originally, the show was held on a Thursday and Friday. Then it expanded to include Saturday. But when event organizers got feedback that women wanted it to be a weekend event, it was switched this year to Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s an evolution of what the clients are telling us,” Gusway said. “This is enjoyable for any ages.”

The event is attended by 7,000 to 10,000 people each year, he estimated. Strollers are welcome.
