Pats helping Heart and Stroke Foundation
The Regina Pats’ and Western Pizza’s 18th annual “Have a Heart” Night is set for tonight.
Pizzas ordered from Western Pizza from 6-8 p.m., may be delivered by members of the Pats.
Some Western Pizza locations are to have Pats players in the restaurant providing table service.
Pats players are to be at the following Western Pizza locations: 2430 9th Ave. N., 2125 11th Ave., 3847 Albert St., 2820A Avonhurst Dr., 1307 Broadway Ave., 1023 Devonshire Dr., Gardiner Park Mall, Glencairn Shopping Centre, Emerald Park and McCarthy-Dewdney.
All proceeds from the deliveries and tips are to go to the Regina Heart and Stoke Foundation.
“Have a Heart” Night events have raised more than $45,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Several Saskatchewan athletes participated in the International Bowl football series on the weekend in Arlington, Tex.
The under-18 team included Payton Hall (Campbell), Daniel Nesbitt (LeBoldus), Kayden Johson (Kerrobert), Yol Piok (O’Neill), Gabe Simons (Luther) and David Singer (O’Neill).
University of Regina running backs coach Dwayne Masson was also a part of the under-18 team, which defeated USA Football’s team 53-9 on Saturday.
Friday night’s action saw the United States under-19 team defeat Canada’s junior national under-20 team, 43-7.
Saskatchewan members of the junior national team included University of Sasaktchewan Huskies Lance Bashutsky, Eric Verity and Mitchell Hillis along with Saskatoon Hilltops Josh Dahl, Logan Fischer and Tom Schnitzler.
Regina’s Tristian Koronkiewicz and Alex Thompson, and Saskatoon’s Evan Machibroda and Cole Klughart were also part of the team.
Campbell’s Ryan Hall was the under-20 team’s defensive backs coach.
With the weekend split, Canada and the U.S. remain even in the International Bowl series at three games apiece heading into the 2014 Under-19 world championship in Kuwait.
The Regina Optimist Baseball Association is to hold its annual general meeting March 1 at the Travelodge Hotel and Conference Centre.
The meeting is to begin at 9:30 a.m., in the Crown Room.
All interested baseball enthusiasts are invited.
