Death of hit man baffles Hawaii Five-0 crew
The TV universe is constantly expanding, and new channels and shows vie for attention just as much as old favourites. Here are the best bets on the box.
Hawaii Five-0
A hired killer is eliminated in Hawaii in the new episode Ka Noe’au (Hawaiian for The Painter). Not everything is as it initially seems, as McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and his team eventually learn. Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) takes a big professional gamble to help save Danny’s (Scott Caan) brother. Peter Weller, who has directed and acted on this series, wrote the story. (CBS, Global)
The Knick
In Crutchfield, the finale to Season 1, an increasingly paranoid Thackery (Clive Owen) becomes obsessed with solving the riddles inherent in blood-transfusion research to beat his rival, Dr. Zinberg (Michael Nathanson). Cornelia and Edwards (Juliet Rylance, Andre Holland) arrive at a crossroads. Barrow (Jeremy Bobb) robs Peter to pay Paul. Lucy (Eve Hewson) asks for help from Bertie (Michael Angarano). (HBO Canada)
Falling Skies
Things don’t look very bright for the Mason clan when Hal (Drew Roy) finally reveals his internal struggle to everyone in the new episode Be Silent and Come Out. Lourdes (Seychelle Gabriel) experiments with a new medical procedure. Charleston’s government sees a shift in leadership when a group breaks away on a search and rescue mission. Gloria Reuben guest stars. (Space)
Movie: Vampire Dog
No, this isn’t a horror movie. The title character, Fang, is a lovable pooch who just happens to be 600 years old and able to talk, and he lives on gelatin, not blood. In this family-friendly 2012 tale, he helps his new owner, a 12-year-old boy (Collin MacKechnie), face his fears and save his school from closure. Norm MacDonald provides the voice of Fang. (The Family Channel)
Handsome Devils
Holy smokes! A new episode called The Navy SEAL Pastor reveals how minister Tim Tillman may have been the beating heart of his pious community. After Tim’s wife, Janet, dies in a tragic accident, his flock quickly rallies around him, but Tim’s vague past suggests that there may be more to this “accident” than meets the eye. (Slice)
