A baseball bat and machete were used to threaten two women in what police are describing as linked robberies over the weekend in Regina.

In the first incident, a woman was approached by three 16-year-old teenage boys on the 1500 block of Victoria Avenue at about 10 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspects, one armed with a baseball bat, demanded the 25-year-old woman’s purse and other belongings before fleeing the scene.

At 5:47 p.m. on Sunday, another woman was approached by three youths, one of whom was armed with a machete, near Victoria Avenue and Quebec Street.

The 18-year-old female was robbed of her purse before the suspects fled.

As police were responding to the location of the victim, another police car in the area spotted two males running in the area of the 200 block of Toronto Street.

The males matched the description of two of the suspects.

A third male suspect was located at a house in the same block.

Police recovered items belonging to the victim of the Saturday night robbery in the house.

The trio was to appear in a Regina court today.

In an another, unrelated incident, two men were robbed of their belongings on the 100 block of Brotherton Avenue on Sunday at about 11 p.m.

The pair was approached by three suspects, two of whom police allege were armed with knives.

After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle but were apprehended a short while later.
