Town mourns boy’s death

- JEREMY WARREN

RADISSON — The hometown of an 11-year-old boy killed by a train is stepping up to comfort his family and holding a candlelight memorial later this week. The candle service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday on Main Street in Radisson.

“We’re just trying to rally together to try and understand what happened and grieve together,” said town councillor Marion Fehr-Stead.

The boy and a 13-year-old friend, both from Radisson, were struck by a train about one kilometre south of the town on Saturday. Police said the older boy suffered minor injuries. RCMP have not released the deceased boy’s name.

An RCMP collision analyst was called to assist with the investigation and a report on the incident could take months to finish.
