Roughrider Pep Band tryouts set for March 22

Tryouts for the 620 CKRM Saskatchew­an Roughrider Pep Band will be held March 22.

The tryouts will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Eagles Club hall (1600 Halifax St.).

Brass, saxophone and percussion players are encouraged to attend.

Band members must be at least 19 years old.

Nik Goncin of Regina will compete for Canada at the Americas Wheelchair Basketball Challenge, to be held March 22-26 in Toronto.

Goncin is part of the national team, which will play host to Americas zone rivals Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and the United States. The event is a lead-up to the 2015 Pan/Parapan Am Games, to be held in Toronto.

Brooke Wilgosh of Regina is the female athlete of the week at Elmira College, located in Elmira, N.Y.

Wilgosh, who plays for the Elmira Soaring Eagles women’s hockey team, had a goal and three assists as Elmira defeated Utica College in a playoff game on the weekend. She also made the allstar team at the ECAC West tournament.
