Canadian rapper Shad new Q host
CBC has found a new host for its weekday radio program Q.
Past Polaris Prize shortlisted rapper Shad will take over hosting duties when the show is set to relaunch in mid-April, CBC said Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old — a Juno winner in 2011 and multiple Juno Award nominee — will be Q’s first permanent host since CBC fired the show’s previous host Jian Ghomeshi in late October following allegations of sexual assault.
Shad, whose real name is Shadrach Kabango, was born in Kenya but raised in Canada. He picked up a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ont., and earned a master’s degree in liberal studies from British Columbia’s Simon Fraser University.
