Regina Leader-Post

Emphasis on peace

- Mitri I. Musleh, Regina

On March 17, the Israelis are going to the polls in a general election. Recently, thousands of people rallied in Tel Aviv against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for a change in Israel’s politics.

Two factors dominate the election — security and the economy. The current leadership under Netanyahu has failed to provide security to Israel’s citizens or improve their economic standing.

In my view, Israel has stagnated since Netanyahu first took office in 1996.

Israeli citizens should remember one thing prior to casting their votes: Since violence can only lead to violence, security can only be improved by establishing peace, not war.

Peace can only lead to security and drastically improve the economic conditions of the people of Israel — this is a guaranteed promise.
