Pat Canadians to open semifinal series
The Regina Pat Canadians are to open a Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League semifinal tonight against the Notre Dame Hounds.
The Pat C’s, who are coming off a quarter-final sweep of the Yorkton Rawtec Maulers, will host the Hounds tonight at 7:45 p.m., at the Co-operators Centre in Game 1 of the best-of-five series.
Game 2 is set for Saturday in Wilcox and Game 3 is to be played on Sunday in Regina. Regina’s Erica Rieder, a member of the University of Manitoba Bisons, has been named to the CIS women’s hockey all-rookie team for the 2014-15 season.
Rieder tallied four goals and seven assists in 27 games with Manitoba, which finished third in Canada West with a 19-7-2 record.
The matchups are set for the Regina Intercollegiate Basketball League junior city finals on Friday.
The junior girls final is to feature the Winston Knoll Wolverines and Campbell Tartans.
The Wolverines punched their ticket with a 67-49 win over the Sheldon-Williams Spartans on Tuesday. Campbell beat the Riffel Royals 9334 to earn a spot in the final.
On the boys side, Campbell will square off against the LeBoldus Golden Suns.
Campbell downed the Luther Lions 102-65 to earn a berth, and LeBoldus beat the Balfour Redmen 75-66.
The girls game is set for 6 p.m., and the boys game will tip off at 8 p.m. Both games are to be played at Luther College High School.
